Partnership with Qatar Post will ensure seamless online experiences for customers

Doha, Qatar, 10 December 2019: Customers in Qatar can now shop for their favourite products from the comfort of their homes, as Carrefour has announced the launch of its webstore. Powered by Qatar Post, residents living in Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Daayen or Umm Salal can place their orders online, and receive them the next day, with more than 100 neighbourhoods covered by the delivery service.

The online store can be accessed at: www.CarrefourQatar.com, where customers will find a wide selection of more than 12,000 products including fresh food, personal care items, household goods in addition to electronics and appliances. Prices are similar to those found in stores, with exclusive promotions offered during special occasions. Delivery is also free-of-charge on orders above QAR 250. All items are delivered in reusable bags, in line with Carrefour’s ongoing commitment to curb the prevalence of single-use-plastic.
The webstore is the latest addition to Carrefour’s omni-channel services, such as the popular Valet Trolley home delivery service, which allows customers to purchase groceries from stores located in Villaggio Mall or City Center Doha and have their groceries delivered to their homes the same day. Furthermore, customers who wish to receive basic supplies within one hour can opt for Carrefour Now, available through theTalabat application.
As Carrefour continues to undergo its digital transformation in Qatar, more services are expected to come online in 2020.


Carrefour raises QAR 350K for Education Above All Foundation during Ramadan

The donation to support ‘Together’ programme, aims to provide quality education and learning prioritized for children and youth living in Qatar

Doha, Qatar, 9 June 2020: This Ramadan, Carrefour Qatar has donated QAR350K to the Education Above All (EAA) foundation to provide underprivileged families with greater access to education. Through a series of initiatives throughout the holy month, Carrefour has leveraged its vast reach to help strengthen the communities it serves through (EAA) Foundation’s "Together" programme.
During the first week of the Holy month, Carrefour joined forces with its customers, matching each donation. In mid-Ramadan, Carrefour partnered with Unilever as the company donated 1 QAR to EAA, each time a customer bought a Knorr or Hellman’s mayonnaise from Carrefour. During Eid, Carrefour committed to donating 1 QAR each time a customer scanned their MyClub barcode at check-out, resulting in a total donation of QAR 54K.
The series of on-going donation initiatives encouraged customers to continue donating throughout the month, with proceeds seeing a significant increase during Eid Al-Fitr. This Ramadan marks one year of collaboration between Carrefour and EAA, resulting in total donations of 4M QAR over the course of one year.

Ministry of Municipality and Environment and Carrefour Encourage Sustainable Shopping Habits

  1. To mark International Plastic Bag Free Day, single-use plastic bags were removed from all Carrefour Qatar stores for three consecutive days
  2. Each customer received a free reusable bag at the store entrance.

Doha, Qatar, 8 July 2020: Supporting the cause of International Plastic Bag Free Day, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) partnered with Carrefour to remove all single-use plastic bags from its cash counters for three consecutive days. To encourage more sustainable, long-term shopping habits, Carrefour provided each in-store customer with a free reusable bag, alongside ten reward points for MyClub members.
Running from 3 to 5 July, the green initiative aimed to fight plastic bag pollution and contribute to a more sustainable environment, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the efforts of the MME. Noof BaKhamis, Head of Awareness at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment in Qatar, said: “This marks the second year that we celebrate International Plastic Bag Free Day. In doing so, we hope to continue raising awareness of the long-term damage that single-use plastic consumption has on the environment and encouraging customers to shop with reusable bags. This year, in spite of the disruptions brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, we ran this initiative for three consecutive days, encouraging customers to reduce their plastic footprint by cutting down their consumption of single-use plastics.

Carrefour Qatar Brings Extra Convenience In-Store With Self-Checkout Counters

Doha, Qatar, July 25 2020: Carrefour Qatar has launched its self-checkout counters at its hypermarkets in City Center, Villaggio, and Landmark to speed up the shopping experience for customers. Available to those with small baskets of up to 10 items, customers can now personally scan their products and complete their cashless transaction with a credit or debit card.
Up to six self-checkout counters are now available at each of the three locations, considerably reducing queue lengths and customer waiting times. The launch of the new service underlines Carrefour’s commitment to offering a convenient shopping experience by bringing extra efficiency to the retail journey. The service also demonstrates Carrefour’s dedication to providing customers with more freedom of choice when shopping, by offering alternative payment options and check-out processes.

Doha, Qatar, 23 August, 2020 — Carrefour Qatar has responded to the catastrophic incident that rocked the Lebanese capital, Beirut, with the launch of a donation initiative to provide essential aid to those who need it.
From 23 to 29 August, Carrefour Qatar will donate 1 QAR to Qatar Red Crescent’s “Heart for Lebanon” campaign each time a customer buys a Carrefour labelled product.
Carrefour is also empowering the public to help those affected by the 4 August blast in Beirut. Customers will have the opportunity to make a donation to Qatar Red Crescent at any Carrefour store. Alternatively, customers can visit the Carrefour Qatar website to donate online.
Carrefour was one of the first respondents to offer help to the affected people of Beirut through Carrefour Lebanon, providing food and essential supplies to the NGOs supporting victims and participating in the mass cleaning of the city.

Mobile feature enables customers to scan and bag purchases as they journey around Carrefour stores

Doha, Qatar, August 31 2020: Carrefour Qatar has launched Scan&Go Mobile — a first-of-its-kind mobile service in the region. The feature provides customers full autonomy, enabling them to scan and bag purchases as they journey around Carrefour stores using their smartphones. It is one of many innovations developed by Carrefour to help customers shop with ease.

Scan&Go Mobile underlines Carrefour’s ongoing commitment to creating seamless shopping experiences for all its customers, with the new feature allowing customers to skip the inconvenience of long queues. Moreover, it enables a truly contactless shopping journey as customers not only use their smartphones, but are also encouraged to utilize their reusable bags to bag as they shop.

Using the Carrefour Qatar mobile app, customers can scan the barcode of each product they would like to purchase as they shop, before making their way to a dedicated Scan&Go checkout area to process their payment — via a debit or credit card — within minutes.

Set to raise customer service levels, Scan&Go Mobile is now available accross all Carrefour hypermarkets and supermarkets in Qatar.

How to use Scan&Go:

• Download the Carrefour Qatar App on IOS or Android and register for MyClub.

• Open your App, and select the “Scan&Go” feature.

• Proceed to scanning and bagging items as you wish.

• The scanner’s intuitive touch-screen allows you to view all the items in your basket. Using the scanner, you can add or deduct items from your basket to monitor your total bill.

• When you’ve finished shopping, simply scan your QR code at the designated Scan&Go terminal, insert your card to make your payment and exit the store.

Carrefour Qatar Raises Funds to Help Vulnerable Students Go Back to School

Doha, Qatar - 15 September 2020: Carrefour Qatar has launched a special fundraising campaign to mark “International Day to Protect Education from Attack” to support vulnerable children and learners all over the world.
Initiated by Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of EAA and UN Sustainable Development Goals Advocate, and adopted by the United Nations, International Day to Protect Education from Attack was established earlier this year and will be observed annually on 9 September to call attention to the challenges facing over 75 million 3-to-18-year-olds living in 35 crisis-affected countries, and their lack of educational support. To help raise more awareness of these issues Carrefour Qatar’s fundraising campaign will raise important funds, which will be donated to the Education Above All (EAA) Foundation’s #UniteToProtect campaign.
Customers in Qatar were given the opportunity to donate to the campaign whenever they visited any one of Carrefour’s stores across the country. Carrefour doubled the amount donated by customers on 9 September - International Day to Protect Education from Attack – contributing to the EAA’s developmental efforts for protection of education.
The launch of this fundraising initiative follows a two-week back-to-school campaign, in which Carrefour Qatar donated 2 QAR to the EAA Foundation every time a customer scanned their MyClub barcode in the process of purchasing stationery, school bags or computers.

Carrefour Raises 5M QAR for Education Above All Foundation’s “Together” Project

Initiative aims to ensure all children in Qatar have equitable access to quality education


17th October 2020, Doha, Qatar: In a monumental milestone, Carrefour Qatar has raised 5m QAR through its fundraising efforts since the last 15 months, which were donated to the Education Above All Foundation’s “Together” project to support vulnerable children and learners and help them access quality education in Qatar.

The Together project has impacted the lives of more than 2000 students through their enrollment in schools, including the support of school operational expenses to promote continuous access and equal opportunities for all children and adolescents, for both boys and girls, in Qatar.

Together project at EAA, in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Higher Education, works to enable all children in Qatar to have equitable access to education in order to unlock their potential to be productive, responsible and contributing residents who transform their local communities and contribute to the country’s economic prosperity. Together is the only project in Qatar that:
• Works as a bridge between state ministries and affected communities in Qatar to provide access to education for children facing barriers, which keep them from attending school.
• Removes barriers to education by facilitating the establishment of alternative education institutes and programs, in collaboration and coordination with local ministries and NGOs.

Education – A Right for All Children in Qatar:

Together, since its inception in 2017, has successfully and continuously expanded its reach to assist marginalized children and their families by providing continuous access to education for children in Qatar. Through enrolment at the EAA-established Assalam Schools, and referral mechanisms with other charity organizations, Together has addressed the barriers to education and ensured educational access for over 2044 children.

Carrefour has joined hands with Education Above All Foundation since 2019 to support EAA’s vision of providing children access to education. Through its fundraising campaign, Carrefour has collected and provided donations of QAR 5 Million for the Together Project. The contribution has gone a long way in impacting lives of the children through enrolment in Assalam Schools who could otherwise have remained out of school. The funds have been utilized to:

• Support the operating expenses of First Assalam School catering to 467 students
• Ensure continues access to education for students in 8 community schools across Doha

In contrast, items likely to fall in popularity this year due to on-going social distancing measures include party dresses, eveningwear, and travel-related items such as suitcases or portable chargers.
